American Furniture Designers

Seeking by means of the years at several American pieces of furniture designers, you might find a few who stand out. Milo Baughman was a single; he liked to style modern day home furniture and was around the second half from the 20th century. How about William Penhallow Henderson who was born in 1877, who besides furniture design was a painter and an architect. You also have Florence Knoll who studied under Mies van der Rohe and designed furnishings and was also involved in architecture. These are only a few from the greats in American Pieces of furniture style. You can do a full search and get a list that has everyone who’s been active in American furnishings style and design, and know exactly what they have contributed to the design of modern day day furniture in the United States.

How about Duncan Phyfe who was 1 with the leading 19th Century furnishings makers? At the age of 16 he was an apprentice for a cabinetmaker.

He became well known for selling furnishings at a really low price. Or Sam Maloof, who was created in 1916. He was a furniture designer and maker. Go online and see some of his fantastic rockers.
Samuel Loomis is another name in American home furniture designers.

He lived and made his furnishings in Connecticut, and was most noted for producing the Colchester/Norwich style of fixtures. Alexander Roux is an additional name you should know. He was trained in France, but immigrated to the United States from the 1830’s, and he opened a new shop in New York and sold a bunch of fixtures. He is known to introduce steam powered saws as a way of building home furniture.

As you can see there are tons of names of people who have touched American fixtures designing at least a bit in their life, and this list isn’t even the full list of people who have somehow touched the way that today’s pieces of furniture looks and how it’s built.
